Woman Reading a Letter at an Open Window is an early masterpiece by Johannes Vermeer. Recent restoration revealed a picture of Cupid in the background, which had been painted over. After being exhibited in Dresden, Vermeer’s painting restored to its original state is now on view in Japan. Hokkaido is the second venue of the Japan tour following Tokyo. There are also approximately seventy master examples of seventeenth-century Dutch painting from the collection in Dresden.
