Special Exhibition: Perverse Japanese Art: From Zen Painting to Heta-uma

From medieval Zen paintings to contemporary heta-uma works, with a  focus on the sense of “perversity” that appears from time to time in Japanese art history, approximately 100 works are introduced under themes such as “clumsiness,” “naivety,” “bitterness,” and “assumed innocence.” It is an exhibition that will enable you to question common sense and give you the strength to transcend the commonplace.

Part I: July 17–Aug. 9; Part II: Aug. 11–Sept. 1 (some exhibits on view for one part only)
2021.07.17 Sat. - 2021.09.01 Wed.
