【Special Exhibitions】YAMASHITA KIYOSHI Retrospective

Known as "Van Gogh of Japan", Yamashita Kiyoshi (1922 - 1971) was born in Asakusa, Tokyo and died at the young age of 49. This exhibition elaborates on Yamashita’s life as an artist, by focusing on his thoughts and feelings behind his works created during his short life. A total of 130 Hari-e collages, drawings and paintings in ink, oil, and water color, as well as his Wandering Diary will be on display, their production spanning from his youth, his nomadic travel period in mid-World War II and beyond, and his later years.
