Mondays (except national holidays, in which case the museum is open on Monday but closed the following Tuesday, and Nov. 1), Dec. 29-Jan. 3, and for rehanging of exhibitions.

Museum collection

Adults: 260 yen (210 yen)  Senior high school and college students: 150 yen (110 yen)

* Free admission for children of junior high school age or younger
* Prices in parentheses are discount rates for groups of 10 or more.

Free admission

Admission is free for the following people. Please ask the staff for details.

Special exhibitions

  1. Students of elementary, junior and senior high schools and their attendants visiting the museum as part of school educational programs.
  2. Residents of welfare institutions for children or seniors and their attendants
  3. People with a Physical Disability Certificate, Medical Rehabilitation Handbook, or Mental Disability Certificate and their attendants

 Permanent and temporary exhibitions of the museum collection

In addition to 1–3 above,

  1. People 65 years of age or older
  2. Elementary and junior high school students and their attendants
  3. High school students on Saturdays and Children’s Day

Everyone is admitted free to the exhibition of the museum collection on the following days.

  1. Anniversary of the museum’s opening (September 23)
  2. Art Week (November 1-7)
  3. Hokkaido Citizen’s Day (July 17)

Family Time

9:30 AM–12:00 PM on Sundays

We have Family Time every Sunday morning for families with small children to enjoy art at their leisure. If you are hesitant to go to art museums because you are concerned that your children may be disruptive, we warmly invite you to take advantage of this opportunity. 
We have a children's book corner in the café. A nursing room equipped with a crib is also available in the building.

Family Time discount

Families with children under age 18 visiting during the Family Time are eligible for discounted admission to special exhibitions. 
(Discount rates vary depending on the exhibition. Please ask the museum for details.)

During your visit

We ask for your understanding and cooperation to ensure that everyone feels comfortable and that the works are kept in good condition.

Museum Etiquette

  • Do not touch the artworks
    When approaching a work of art, please make sure that the brim of your hat or your hair does not touch it. 
  • Keep your conversations quiet
    Talking while appreciating artworks is fun, but please be mindful of other visitors around you.
  • Put your phone on silent mode
    Please go to the lobby or hall to talk on the phone.
  • No eating or drinking
    This includes candy and chewing gum. Visitors may eat and drink in the lobby. 
  • Do not bring in large or long items
    You might hit the work or other visitors.
  • Do not bring in any living creatures (pets, animals, plants, insects, etc.
    Does not apply to guide dogs, hearing dogs, and service dogs. 
  • Use pencils for writing
    Ink pens and erasers are not allowed in the exhibition rooms. 
  • Take small children by the hand
    Running or falling children are a danger to themselves and the artwork.
  • No photos or video allowed
    Note that photography is allowed in the permanent exhibition rooms (including the Otei Memorial Room) with restrictions and at your own risk. Please read the following notes.
