Kaneko Ōtei (1906-2001, from Matsumae Town), the founder of calligraphy of modern poetry, and his disciple Nakano Hokumei (b. 1923, Haboro Town) are two of Japan’s most famous calligraphers. In this exhibition, we will introduce the unique styles developed by each artist through their most representative works. We hope you will enjoy the fascinating world of calligraphy of modern poetry.
