Visions of Southern Hokkaido: Between Fantasy and Reality
Tatsue Hayase《pained control》1955,(Lent by the museum)
Special Exhibition Room
In every age, artists give free reign to their imagination and earnestly confront their inner self and physical body. While humorously expressing the absurdity of contemporary society, they also develop their own unique world of art. In this exhibition, we spolight the works of two highly original artists with links to southern Hokkaido: Hayase Tatsue (1905-1991) and Fukai Katsumi (1948-1978). Join us in this fascinating space, which wavers back and forth between fantasy and reality.
