The contemporary artist Komatsu Miwa (b. 1984) paints guardian deities such as lion-dogs and dragons. Focusing primarily on these works, which have become synonymous with Komatsu, this exhibition showcases approximately 100 items, including series that depict folk tales and legends from a wide range of regions, series of guardian deities such as lion-dogs, which protect and guide the viewer, and new works that were inspired by Hokkaido’s natural features and local industry.
